TEEN WRITING COMPETITION in collaboration with Dunedin Public Libraries and Dunedin UNESCO City of Literature. Entry is restricted to those from Year 9 to Year 13. One entry per person, with a maximum of 750 words. Closing date for entries is 28 October 5pm. Judges are poet, art writer, and editor of Landfall David Eggleton; and Bridget Schaumann, President of School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa. PLUS prizes for the three winners. Diwali celebrations

DIWALI CELEBRATION. Diwali, the Festival of Light will be celebrated once again this year. For the first time, there will be an Indian Heritage Festival stall with information on the first Indian settlers in Otago; traditional Indian foods; delightful decorations; and you can take part in one or all of the workshops on offer from 2-3.30pm:
How to make Rangoli patterns using the coloured sand
Have mehendi designs painted on your hands
How to wrap a turban
Learn how to drape a sari
Diwali Playspace activities, and more…
4-4.30pm Indian Dance will be performed. Guaranteed to be a colourful and spectacular event.
