Gifted and Talented Students

Art Stimulates Thinking
The world of art is perfect for developing the skills of thinking, questioning, reflecting and wondering. Special visits are available for students who want to go deeper with their thinking.

Exploring Artworks In Depth
A selection of artworks may be chosen for a particular purpose or an open-ended approach is adopted where the students themselves select artworks to describe, analyse, interpret and evaluate.

Going Deeper
Your students will also be stimulated and challenged in their thinking as they explore wider questions such as "What is art?", "Do we need art?" "Can anyone create art?", "Does art always have to be original?", "Why is some art highly valued?" and 'Does art have to look like something real?".

Playing With Ideas
The visit may include a workshop where ideas discussed are tried and tested.

Key Competencies Extended
Give your talented and gifted students the art gallery experience where they go deeper with the key competencies of 'thinking', 'participating and contributing' and 'using language, symbols and text'. Each visit will be tailored to meet their needs and age levels.

Selecting Students
You decide the criteria for selecting students. They do not necessarily have to be gifted and talented in art. The focus of this programme is thinking about thinking. Your students might be selected from several classes in one school or from a cluster of schools. The choice is yours.
