Pacifika

Tapa        Level 1-4
View a video which shows the process of tapa making and see a display of tapa. In the workshop students will create Pacifika designs in ink or felt tip pen on brown paper. When the paper is scrunched and dye applied it looks surprisingly like real tapa cloth.

Pacifika Lizards        Level 1-4
Decorative lizards crawl over a patterned background.

Pacifika Exhibition        Level 1-4
Curate your own Pacifika exhibition.

Images of Pacifika Level 2-4
A central image is framed by a triangle and a Pafika pattern background.

Checkerboard Pacifika        Level 2-4
Six or nine Pacifika images are drawn with alternating coloured backgrounds. The positive-negative aspect of this design is highly effective.

Pacifika Emblems       Level 3-4
Arrange emblems floating in and out of the picture plane or alternatively on top of each other with each one smaller than the last.

Marbling and Black Ink        Level 3-4
The background of the paper is coloured using a marbling technique and then Maori or Pacifika designs are drawn in black using Indian ink.

Pacifika Fashion        Level 3-4
Create fashion using designs and emblems from the Pacific.

Pacifika Stained Glass Windows        Level 4
Use Pacifika designs for your imitation stained glass window.
