what:

The Gallery provides wide-ranging and successful education programmes during school term time for visiting school groups. Visits are tailored to fit in with your timetable, class level and curriculum needs.

Allow two hours for programmes which include a workshop.

Generally visits are free but  occasionally there may be an entry fee for large-scale visiting exhibitions.

who:

Classes are led by a registered teacher and provide a range of programmes designed to meet the needs of school students from new entrants right through to the senior levels of secondary school.

Term time programmes for visiting school groups are offered under the Ministry of Education's Learning Experiences Outside the Classroom initiative (LEOTC).

where:

The Gallery has a dedicated classroom where workshops are held. All programmes involve a guided look at works on exhibition and many have a practical workshop component in the Gallery classroom and resource notes for follow up activities. Some visits will also make use of film footage from the New Zealand Film archive.
