The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is delighted to announce the appointment of Ane Tonga as Curatorial Intern in Contemporary Art at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
As an emerging young curator, Tonga already has an impressive CV. She was the Blumhardt Curatorial Intern in decorative arts at the Dowse Art Museum in 2011, and has held curatorial roles at Te Papa Tongarewa Museum of New Zealand, City Gallery Wellington and has been a lecturer at Unitec Institute of Technology. She is currently curating a programme of exhibitions for The Ötara Cube, a compact, temporary contemporary art space in South Auckland.
The Curatorial Intern in Contemporary Art is a training position for emerging New Zealand curators, supported by funding from Creative New Zealand in conjunction with the Dunedin Public Art Gallery.
Director Cam McCracken says: ‘Ane is an exceptional emerging curator with an already impressive list of exhibition outcomes she has delivered.
We are looking forward to her joining the team at the DPAG, which has proven to be a great learning environment for previous Curatorial Interns.’
Ane Tonga will take up her role at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery in July 2015.
