The March edition features Landscapes, Dresses, Models, and More: behind the scenes of two photoshoots for Central Otago Couture, a book about the Eden Hore Dress collection presented by Dr Jane Malthus.
Dr Jane Malthus is a dress historian and honorary curator for the dress collection at Tūhura Otago Museum, and has an academic background in textiles, clothing and fashion, history, and fine arts. Her research explores historical, social, and cultural intersections and implications of dress and textiles used by nineteenth- and twentieth-century New Zealanders. Involved with Eden Hore’s collection since the 1980s, she is a current patron and steering group member for Eden Hore Central Otago, on the board for U3A Dunedin, and iD Dunedin Fashion and a founding member of Costume & Textiles Aotearoa New Zealand.
Recent exhibition experiences include co-curating and co-designing A Darker Eden, an exhibition of Dunedin Fashion held in Auckland in 2015, Anything Could Happen, an exhibition of art and fashion held in Shanghai in 2017, and Fashion Forward: Disruption through Design at Tuhurā Otago Museum in 2021.
Central Otago Couture: The Eden Hore Collection by Jane Malthus and Claire Regnault, with images by Derek Henderson published by Te Papa Press will be launched 1 April, 2025. Eden in Dunedin, an exhibition of 35 outfits from the Eden Hore Central Otago collection curated by Malthus will open at Toitū Otago Settlers Museum in April 2025.
