SORRY THIS WORKSHOP IS BOOKED OUT

Matariki – a time to come together with others to celebrate and reflect on the changing of the year.

In celebration of Matariki, learn to create a rourou basket from local Kāi Tahu multimedia artist and weaver Amber Bridgman. You’ll be guided through creating this beginner’s level basket which is often used for holding food.

This session will introduce you how to care for and prepare harakeke and will increase your appreciation of harakeke and mahi raraka. By the end of the workshop you’ll have created a rourou to take home and hold the kai for your celebrations.

All materials provided, but feel free to bring your own tools if you prefer. Please don’t bring your own harakeke.

Although suitable for ages 10 and over, this workshop is designed for adults.  All child participants must be accompanied by a guardian who is actively participating in the workshop with them.
