Guy Ngan 顏國鍇(1926 – 2017) was a second-generation Chinese-New Zealand artist. He spent time in China, Aotearoa, the UK and Italy before settling in Koraunui (Stokes Valley, Lower Hutt) where he produced a vast array of works over more than 60 years. Originally exhibited at The Dowse Art Museum, The Dunedin Public Art Gallery will showcase a tailored version of Guy Ngan: Habitationwith the artist’s sculptures, prints and paintings alongside the large-scale aluminium sculpture, Newton Post Office Mural(1973), from the collection of Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki. This is the first major exhibition of Ngan’s work to be held at Dunedin Public Art Gallery and will offer a rich introduction to this important artist.
