21 April 2018 - 12 August 2018
Wellington Media Collective (WMC), operating from 1978 – 1998, was a collective (including graphic designers, activists, writers and photographers) that produced graphic material as a means of communicating information to a wide and diverse community. Strongly left-wing, WMC’s work addressed a broad range of social issues, including women’s rights, tino rangatiratanga, opposition to the 1981 Springbok Tour and Nuclear-free New Zealand. NOT NEUTRAL brings together selected of works from the WMC archive, providing a reflection of some wider social, political, cultural and economic trends of the times, while revealing a history of this collective.
