DPAG Curatorial Intern 2023
Anna McLean
16 May 2023
We are delighted to announce that the Dunedin Public Art Gallery Ihupukutaka Kairaupī Curatorial Intern for 2023 is Anna McLean. Anna is from Taranaki and was a recent recipient of a Govett Brewster/Len Lye Curatorial Placement.
Anna writes “I am interested in the social engagement that public art galleries can render outside of the standard roles and expectations of cultural institutions. My practice offers alternative forms for creating exhibitions that are inviting and less clinical, more bicultural and less Westernised. I have a keen interest in Contemporary art across the motu, the moana and beyond. The Dunedin Public Art Gallery collection and team play a vital role in Aotearoa’s art scene and this internship will provide me with key resources to extend my learning. I am grateful to have this opportunity to live and learn amongst the people and whenua of Ngāi Tahu.”
Anna will be involved with all aspects of curatorial work at the DPAG and we are looking forward to welcoming her to Ōtepoti.
The Dunedin Public Art Gallery Curatorial Internship is supported by Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa.
