SUITE 2026: Part 3
1 September 2026
This Saturday 5th September we welcome visitors to the final exhibition in Suite 2026. I rongo i tō tohu – Heard your message brings together new works by Ōtepoti Dunedin-based artist Georgina May Young (Te Ūpokorehe, Te Whakatōhea, Irish, Scottish). This exhibition includes weaving, embroidery and raranga, all ways of working that rely on sharing time, knowledge and experience in order to build a strong foundation. Within these reciprocal processes, Young’s works create space to acknowledge community, whānau and the many different hands that contribute to maintaining creative practices across generations.
Georgina May Young exhibits nationally and internationally and is regarded as one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading contemporary textile artists. I rongo i tō tohu is the third exhibition in Suite 2026 – an exhibition series that presents recent work by artists living and working in Ōtepoti Dunedin.
On Saturday 17th October at 11am join Georgina and I in the gallery for a kōrero about this exhibition, keep an eye on our website for any updates to the programme.
