Kia māhorahora te reo Māori –
let’s make it seen, let’s make it heard!
17 September 2024
This week the DPAG team joins the nation in celebrating Te Wiki o te Reo Māori 2024 – Ake Ake Ake, A Forever Language. Throughout our galleries there are opportunities to use and expand your reo Māori, no matter your taumata reo (language level).
Whakawhānuitia tō kete kupu toi, expand your art-related words in te reo Māori:
We’ve put together this quiz to test and build your knowledge of words you might find in the art gallery. Our kupu toi have been sourced from Te Aka (https://maoridictionary.co.nz/) and Paekupu (https://paekupu.co.nz/) Check them out if you want to know more.
Take the quiz — click here or the image below.
Whakarongo ki te toikupu e rērere ana, listen to poetry ringing out through the galleries:
Visit on Thursday 19th of September at 5.30pm to hear from an amazing group of Kāi Tahu poets reading in the galleries to celebrate the launch of our free Nohoaka Guide. Check out our new range of merch by Xoë Hall while you are here, just freshly released.
The Dunedin Public Art Gallery is a place that celebrates te reo Māori – ake ake ake! Tukuna te reo kia rere - Let the language flow!
