Sam Bloor: Line Drawings (1-4)
15 October 2024
Rounding out the moving image programme curated by the Gallery’s Ihupukutaka Kairauhī Curatorial Intern Anna McLean, is Sam Bloor’s Line Drawings (1-4) (2018). Based in Perth, Western Australia, Bloor’s experience as a signwriter informs an art practice that is concerned with human behaviour, public space and space-making, and the values and visibility of labour. Highlighting the role of lines to promote social order and conformity, Bloor uses drone footage to capture the ways in which he uses paint to disrupt and complicate various lines that exist in public spaces, including carparks and road systems.
Line Drawings (1-4) is screening in the Dunedin Public Art Gallery’s Rear Window Gallery until 8 December 2024.
