Spring Holidays at the DPAG
25 September 2024
The October school holidays are nearly here, a time for a rest and change of scenery before the final push to the end of the year. DPAG is here to the rescue once again, providing a creative outlet for tamariki through a range of interactive experiences.
Feel like taking things at your own pace?
Make this spring a colourful one and wander the galleries! See what you can discover about colour in A Painter’s Palette, an exhibition curated for children and featuring works from Gretchen Albrecht, Saskia Leek, Scott Eady and Jeffrey Harris. Or discover Māori ancestral figures, and kōrero tuku iho, treasured stories handed down through generations in Bloodline – the return in Xoe Hall’s celebration of her Kāi Tahutaka and mana wāhine in a dazzling array of colour and energy.
If you are visiting us between 10am and 2pm from Sunday 6th – Tuesday 8th October, then harness that creativity to transform the materials provided at our free ‘have a go’ art-making tables, as part of our Whānau Art Drop-in Sessions, and take your masterpiece home with you.
Want to be guided through an art making experience?
DPAG art educator extraordinaire John Neumegen will be leading tamariki aged 7 – 13 in a hands-on exploration of art and art-making through the theme of colours and rainbows.
And if you are under-five (or want to share an experience with an under-fiver…) join us for Tour for Tots — a baby, toddler and under-five friendly exploration of the gallery in te reo Māori and English followed by morning tea and a chat in Playspace.
We love having tamariki visit DPAG, all information is available on our website, and please remember anyone under the age of 14 must please be accompanied by a parent or caregiver for the duration of their visit.
