Over the first weeks and months of 2022 we are delighted to welcome Christopher Ulutupu (Samoa, Niue, Germany) as our current Aotearoa New Zealand Visiting Artist. Joining us from his home in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington, Christopher will be exploring Ōtepoti Dunedin and the wider region as he researches and develops work for his exhibition at Dunedin Public Art Gallery in May 2022.A graduate of Massey University College of Creative Arts and Toi Whakaari, New Zealand Drama School, Christopher’s practice is centred on video and performance. His work complicates understandings of identity and indigeneity – navigating the ripple effects of colonisation and the experiences of the Pacific diaspora through fantasy, fiction and popular culture.
