A New Zealand Visiting Artist Project
12 August 2019 - 25 October 2019
Kalisolaite ‘Uhila is an award-winning and internationally recognised performance and experimental artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau/Auckland. Completing his Bachelor of Visual Arts from Auckland University of Technology, Auckland in 2010, and a Masters in Performance and Media Art in 2017, ‘Uhila has been recognised for his powerful works that take inspiration from his daily life, everyday routines, culture and environment. In durational performances and experimental art works, ‘Uhila’s art practice draws the viewer close into his own unique perspective of the world in which he lives.
In 2019, Dunedin Public Art Gallery is pleased to welcome ‘Uhila to the gallery as our New Zealand Visiting Artist Programme, supported by Creative New Zealand Toi Aotearoa along with project partner, Dunedin School of Art. He will be in residence at the gallery for a period of 12 weeks undertaking research and performance, working from a base in the BNZ gallery.
